Counseling for Anxiety
Anxiety in Asian Americans
Your mind may be constantly racing with “what ifs”, worst possible outcomes, and thoughts of others. It’s overwhelming to the point where making decisions is impossible, you do not know what to do, and you lay awake at night. Your chest feels tighter than ever, where you have to take huge deep breaths but cannot figure out why this is happening. Your stomach feels off all the time and you can never sit still.
These thoughts are so loud but no one else around you seems to hear them. You might have found it hard to center yourself and are feeling directionless. You are trying to do the best by anticipating what’s coming towards you, yet you feel like you are going no where.
When you try to reach out for help from others, it just seems like they have it all together and you do not. It feels like they are trying to fix the problem, yet you feel lonelier than before. The thoughts keep racing at a million miles per hours.
“Our anxiety does not come from thinking about the future, but from wanting to control it”
In our counseling sessions, it would be an honor to walk alongside you as we explore the story you've come to believe about yourself, your relationships, and the world around you. At a pace that feels safe and comfortable, we'll gently examine the experiences, defining moments, and painful memories that may still be shaping how you see yourself today. Together, we'll begin to separate what no longer serves you from the values, strengths, and truths that deserve more space in your life.
My role is to offer a compassionate and supportive place where your fears, worries, and experiences are met with understanding rather than judgment. Together, we'll practice grounding in the present moment, reconnecting with what matters most to you, and finding steadiness amid life's uncertainties instead of becoming consumed by what might happen next.
My hope is not that you'll never experience anxiety, fear, or discomfort, but that you'll learn to relate to those experiences differently—with greater self-compassion, resilience, and courage. As you reconnect with your values and inner strengths, you'll be better equipped to move through life's challenges with confidence, authenticity, and a deeper sense of peace.
