Counseling for Depression
Depression in Asian Americans
You may have carried this weight since childhood or perhaps this dark cloud appeared more recently. Whether it’s from the death of a loved one, a complex relationship with your parents, inability to lock in on a career, a breakup or something traumatic, all the feelings and emotions can be confusing and leave you feeling crippled.
Even though this all feels heavy as hell, no one else seems to see or understand what you are going through, let alone ask about it. You might have found it hard to let others know about your situation and it’s getting more and more difficult to force a smile. Happiness is always fleeting and nothing seems to bring you joy anymore.
You might have thought that if you reach out to a friend or family member, it would mean “burdening them with my problems”. This can lead to social withdrawal and even greater isolation, only leaving you with this belief that the world will never truly understand.
“A big part of depression is feeling lonely, even if you are in a room full of a million people.”
In our work together, I'd love to gently explore the story of your life with you. At your own pace, and with your permission, we'll look at the moments that have shaped you—the meaningful chapters, unexpected plot twists, and the people who have played important roles along the way.
As we make sense of your story together, I'll be there as a compassionate guide, helping you find language for your experiences, discover new meanings, and reconnect with the values that matter most to you. My hope is that this process leaves you feeling more grounded, more connected to yourself, and able to move forward with greater clarity, self-understanding, and joy.
