Asian American Men’s Health

Mental Health for Asian American Males

You feel angry but it seems so hard to communicate that in a way that’s productive to the people in your life. It feels being pissed off and frustrated are the only two feelings you can actually express, but it leads to unhelpful outcomes.

It feels like the littlest things tick you off and rather than talking about it, it’s just easier to pull away and keep it to yourself. Even when your significant other asks about what’s been going, you find it hard to put language to it because it feels awkward and you don’t want to burden them.

Even amongst friends, the idea of being vulnerable is met with beliefs like, “There’s no point in sharing this”, “I’m just going to be a burden”, or “They probably don’t want to hear about my problems”. This leaves you feeling alone, maybe even resentful towards people who you care about.

We were not well-equipped to feel our emotions and process our feelings. What we do with it and how we handle them today was modeled to us by our parents, their interactions, and whatever else we saw in media.

Out of your vulnerabilities will come your strength.
— Sigmund Freud

Together, we can explore the story of your life. At your own pace and with your permission, we'll look at the moments that have shaped you. The meaningful chapters, unexpected plot twists, and the people who have played important roles along the way.

As we make sense of your story together, I'll be there as a compassionate guide, helping you find language for your experiences, discover new meanings, and reconnect with the values that matter most to you. My hope is that this process leaves you feeling more grounded, more connected to yourself, and able to move forward with greater clarity and feeling connected to your loved ones.
